Hanging ikebana vase - monkey reaching for a moon (foliage/ brown)
A vintage hanging ikebana vase, in a shape of a crescent moon. It is suspended on hooks shaped like monkeys. This design is inspired by an old, yet still popular motif in Japanese art - a monkey reaching for a reflection of the moon on a lake.
The vase is nanbu ware- traditional iron cast.
The sides of the moon are decorated with an image of delicate foliage.
The hooks are detachable, allowing for adjustment of the length.
The parts can be used separately. There are three monkeys in the set.
The inside is partially rusted. There is a slight rusty residue on the surface as well. It can be restored with a bit of skill and a rust remover/ paint.
The vase still can be used to display flowers, and as a unique interior decoration as well.
