A traditional Japanese wind chime, fuurin, in the shape of a puffer fish, called fugu in Japanese. These chimes are traditionally used during summer- their sound is suppose to bring refreshment during hot and humid season.

It is a Nanbu ironware, traditional cast iron item from Iwate prefecture.
The design is unique and cute. The bigger fish is a decoration; the smaller one hanging below is the one that makes the sound. Despite the small size it produces distinctive clear notes. The original paper strip, propelling the chime, is included. The text printed on it is a poem by Takuboku Ishikawa, in which author recalls willows turning green over a river in his hometown. The paper is damaged due to the age and storage method, but it does not affect its functionality. I will add some origami paper that can be used as a substitute.

The surface of the chime was artificially oxidized, to produce the green color.
The strings are made of cotton and synthetic fibers.
The item is in a great shape.
The bigger fish can be detached and displayed separately.

Big fish ca W10 D5 H7 cm
Small fish ca W7 D5 H5 cm
Paper strip size 4.5x23cm
Total length 64cm
