A traditional Japanese wind chime, in the shape of a stone lantern, with a temple bell. These chimes are traditionally used during summer - their sound is supposed to bring refreshment during hot and humid season.
It is a nanbu ironware, traditional cast iron item from Iwate prefecture.
The top part is a decoration; it's the bell attached below that makes the sound. Despite the small size, it produces distinctive, clear notes. The original paper strip, propelling the chime, is included. It can be easily substituted.
The parts are detachable and can be used separately.
The paper strip has some creases on it. The top ring of the pavilion and the heart of the bell have a few small rusted spots. Please check the photos before purchasing.
The strings are made of cotton.
