A vintage hanging ikebana vase, in the shape of a full moon. It is suspended on a hook shaped like a monkey. This design is inspired by an old, yet still popular motif in Japanese art – a monkey reaching for a reflection of the moon on a lake.
The vase is nanbu ware, a traditional iron cast style. The sides of the moon are decorated with an image of delicate pampas grass stalks.
The hook is detachable, allowing for adjustment of the length. The parts can be used separately. There is one monkey in the set.
There is a light residue of rust both on the moon and the monkey. The top ring is misaligned. Some adjustment might be necessary.
The vase can be used to display flowers, as a wall pocket, or as a unique interior decoration as well.
