Quirky yet elegant Nagoya obi for New Year's celebrations.
Features a repetitive image of symbols of good luck and fortune, such as paper cranes, a kanji character "kotobuki" (寿 meaning "celebration" or "best wishes"), and spiny lobsters. Shrimps and lobsters are considered symbols of vitality and longevity, for their shape resembles a silhouette of a hunched over old man with a long beard.
In the background there is a bold golden, black, and deep red checkered pattern.

Nagoya is the most-used obi type today. One end is folded and sewn in half, the other end is of full width, for easier tying. Usually worn in simple taiko musubi style.

Width 30cm
Length ca 330cm

Please note, this is a vintage item. Some discoloration of the fabric, multiple small yellowish moisture stains, some fabric imperfections etc are present. These defects are noticeable from up close, but should not affect the looks and the general comfort too much.
