A traditional Japanese wind chime, or fūrin, in the shape of a stone lantern, with a temple bell hanging below. These chimes are traditionally used during summer - their sound is supposed to bring refreshment during hot and humid season.
It is a nanbu ironware, traditional cast iron item from Iwate prefecture.
The design is elegant and eye-catching. The top part is a decoration; it's the bell attached below that produces the sound. Despite the small size, it produces distinctive, clear notes. The original paper strip, propelling the chime, is included. It can be easily substituted if needed.
All the parts are detachable and can be used separately.
